Hey, day 3 and 4 are late because we have had no internet service until just now! We are packing for Paris and getting a 5:45 am wakeup call for the ride to the train.
In the meantime, we did everything we could in the time allowed and that our bodies would agree to! :)
Today we took a tour around London on a double decker bus that we could hop on - hop off where we wanted to and then end with a cruise down the Thames.
We stopped here at St. Paul's Cathedral where many famous events have taken place including Princess Diana's wedding. Photographs are not allowed inside the church, but as I'm sure you've seen on television it is quite spectacular.
Our other stop off was The Tower of London which is actually 20 towers! You could spend an entire day here to learn all the history. We were given a 15 minute synopsis in the Chapel (no pics allowed) by a wonderful Beefeater, who was smart, witty, handsome and humble! Ann Boleyn lost her head here and is buried here, among many others!
In order to become a Beefeater, you have to have served 20 years in Her Majesty's Army with no blemishes on your record. Impressive!!
You also have to know a LOT about England's history and have a great sense of humor! :)
A ceremonial guard who would do his "marching" every few minutes. It was fun to watch.
This was something to see: A piece of an old Roman wall!! This dates back to the 2nd or early 3rd century....wow!
There are wire mesh animals placed throughout the premises to remind everyone that at one time the Tower of London was once a zoo!
Great view of the London Bridge as we get ready to board our Thames River Cruise.
